With the downturn in the economy, a dropping enrollment and the need to maintain its financial reserves, our local council could no longer afford to maintain the property as needed and continue to fulfill their core mission of "building girls of courage, confidence and character who will make the world a better place." National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry “participates in the mission of the Catholic Church by advocating for and supporting Catholic youth ministry on the national, diocesan, and local level.”
.... However, the NFCYM does not seem to take fidelity to the teachings of the Church into account when choosing with whom to associate itself. The Girl Scouts: Planned Parenthood's 'Tactical Arm'
People often talk about growing up in a time when they didn't have to lock their doors, when their children could go out and play without fear, and when everyone knew (and talked to) their neighbors. It was a time when groups like the Girl Scouts flourished -- when they were viewed as a wholesome club parents could allow their daughters to join without concern that their little girls would be corrupted by feminists with an agenda. As a matter of fact, parents and their daughters would often learn about the Girl Scouts from their churches.

Updated National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM) Position Statement on Girl Scouts USA (GSUSA)
NFCYM “serves those who serve the young Catholic Church” and advocates for the teachings and values of the Catholic Church in all arenas, including and especially, the challenge of Pope John Paul II to evangelize culture. In light of the new evangelization, NFCYM’s policy and approach in relating to secular and public organizations and institutions is one of advocacy through engagement and dialogue.
.....NFCYM has met with GSUSA, including their new CEO, Anna Maria Chavez, who has committed to continued dialogue. This has resulted in:
GSUSA¡'s commitment to strengthening their relationship with faith communities and honoring the religious principles in their program resource material. Therefore, changes have recently been made to GSUSA¡'s print and web program content as a result of the issues of concern raised by NFCYM and others. Update: GSUSA CEO Anna Maria Chavez recently sent a letter introducing herself to U.S. Catholic Bishops and Church officials.
In it, she speaks generally of the influence of her childhood "faith” to set her “on the right path.” This column makes no comment on her personal spirituality (and her office did not respond to my interview request to speak with her about her faith and work).
But Anna Maria Chavez leaves a professional footprint that suggests an ideology at odds with the Church.
Ms. Chavez’ letter to the Bishops neglects to mention that for the past few decades, in spite of her Catholic faith, she has publicly aligned herself with pro-abortion politicians, public figures, and organizations -- and there’s no evidence that she’s ever publicly defended the Church’s specific positions on sexuality, contraception, or abortion or sought to distance herself in any way from the pro-abortion politics of her Democrat mentors. read more

Girls’ group may regret sex-ed partnership as snack sales suffer
Across the country, angry emails bombard official Girl Scout computers. In Northern Virginia, a Catholic church bans the Scouts from meeting on its property. An Idaho television station reports that a “rumor” about a Girl Scout-Planned Parenthood alliance is disrupting this year’s cookie sales.
Emails and random churches are one thing, the bottomline is quite another.
The cookie sale is the Girl Scouts’ largest fundraiser, bringing in close to a billion dollars annually. This year, some girls will come equipped with credit-card scanners to expedite the sale. But even high-tech toddlers won’t make up for the loss if overall sales are down.
Girl Scout headquarters knows that Planned Parenthood scares parents - why else would it publish an official disclaimer? Its website claims that “Girl Scouts of the USA does not have a relationship or partnership with Planned Parenthood,” and yet there is evidence everywhere that this is patently, even laughably, untrue. read more

Many Christian parents are reporting that the Girl Scout's affiliation with “Planned Parenthood” is not something that they want their children involved with, and have now begun removing their daughters from the organization.

The same controversial agenda that guided the chaotic youth conference last summer in Leon, Mexico will inspire the UN’s World Youth Conference, which is now scheduled for this July at UN Headquarters in New York City.

RUSE: The Girl Scout Sex Guide
Sharon Slater, a mother of seven, innocently walked into a panel sponsored by the Girl Scouts USA at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women a few weeks ago. Almost immediately she was asked to leave. All non-Scout adults were kicked out of the room, which was packed with adolescent girls.
Her curiosity piqued, Slater lingered by the door and when the panel ended she went immediately back inside to look around. What she found has shocked her and shocked Girl Scout moms around the country. Slater found a stack of brochures produced by Planned Parenthood called “Healthy, Happy and Hot” that among other things explained to the girls, “Some people have sex when they have been drinking or using drugs.
